  • Completed one year, two semesters part time (20 hours a week) and one summer full time (40 hours a week), of undergraduate research in food microbiology and plant pathology

  • Conducted and assisted with various laboratory techniques including microbial culturing, DNA isolation, PCR, and gel electrophoresis

  • Participated in extension research with Chapel Hill Foods, troubleshooting recipes and preforming microbial analysis on foods prepared for long term storage
